Influence and Power: The Introvert’s Daily Inspiration to Speak 008

Prompts, Poems & Inspiration to Find Your Voice

Hello deep thinker, let’s talk about anger.

This newsletter starts a 7 part series on Anger.

My hope for you is that you use these practices to get curious about your anger and allow you anger to fuel your voice into being the effective speaker that you desire to be.

For many of us, anger can feel uncomfortable—something we push down, ignore, or struggle to express. But anger is powerful. It reveals our deepest values, boundaries, and unmet needs. When we learn to acknowledge and voice it, we take back our power.

Writing Exercise: Explore Your Anger

Grab a pen and paper right now. (Gift yourself space and time to really do this!)

Think about the last time you felt truly angry. Not just annoyed or frustrated, but really angry.

  1. Who or what were you angry at?

  2. What exactly was the problem?

  3. What thoughts and emotions ran through your mind?

  4. Where did you feel it in your body? Was it your jaw clenching? Heat rising in your chest? Your hands making fists?

  5. What was happening around you?

  6. Who was there? What was said or done?

  7. And here's the important question: What value of yours was being violated? For example: If you got angry when someone interrupted you, maybe you deeply value being heard. If you got angry about unfairness at work, maybe you value justice and respect.

Write down one sentence

"I felt angry when _______ because I value _______."

Speaking Exercise: Own Your Voice

Practice saying this out loud:
“I felt really angry when _______ because I value ______.”

Notice how it feels to put your emotions into words. No judgment—just awareness. Your voice matters, even when expressing difficult emotions.

Ok. That is all you have to do today. Gold star.

For over-achievers: This week, notice times when you feel frustrated, annoyed, or slightly angry. Pay attention to where that anger shows up in your body.

For OVER over-achievers: Take the next step and try to specify what value is being stepped on.

Part 3. The Poem

Job Announcement by Linnea George

i am writing a job announcement:
a position needs to be filled
a hole in my heart
a role must be played
i need a new god

wanted: a female God

(you are fucking fired i said
you are not doing your job i said
your job to protect your job to provide...
you are fired!)

wanted:
a god who listens
a god who hears my prayer
a god who moves heaven & earth to help me
must be a woman
i need breasts
i need vagina
no more of this war-hungry-white-dick-deaf-to-my-voice-crimilization-of-the-poor-bullshit
i need a woman
a female advocate
who knows how to COOK
give me a warm nourishing meal
tell me to put my feet up
and rest
i am tired
all this crying
i want a god who listens
i want a god who listens
i want a god who listens
